New owner John offers a warm and friendly welcome to all customers old and new alike.The Boat Inn is set alongside the beautiful Southern Oxford Canal and is a family and dog friendly canal side country pub which has retained it’s traditional character and local appeal.

Our unique and beautiful setting makes the Boat Inn an ideal watering hole for walkers and hikers to enjoy a tasty meal, a refreshing drink or a comforting warm by our roaring open fire.

We have an enviable reputation for serving the highest quality food, all locally sourced and cooked to perfection. With the freshest fish arriving direct from the coast, you will be spoilt for choice perusing our menu. During the summer months enjoy relaxing in our large garden which is perfect for al fresco dining.

As a member of the bespoke Greene King Head Brewer’s Club, The Boat Inn also houses some of the best Greene King Cask Ales, including IPA, Old Trip, and Old Speckled Hen with a complement of premium continental lagers on tap, Becks Vier and Kronenbourg 1664. Our wines are personally selected by the owners to provide for all palates if just drinking, but form perfect accompaniments to all dishes on our menu.

The Boat Inn has also featured in the popular, detective drama series Inspector Morse, based on a series of novels by Colin Dexter. It starred John Thaw as Chief Inspector Morse and Kevin Whately as Sergeant Lewis.
